Hello my name is James Broadnax,

I’m a licensed clinical therapist and doctoral student in Criminology, Law, and Justice at UIC.

I work with both adults and youth, helping people navigate the ways life’s challenges leave their mark on our minds, bodies, and hearts.

With youth, I focus on stress, behavioral challenges, anxiety, and depression. I understand how early experiences, environments, and relationships shape coping and emotional growth. My work with young people is grounded in patience, curiosity, and collaboration helping them build tools to regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and reclaim a sense of agency.

With adults, I support those grappling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and the weight of life transitions. Together, we explore patterns that no longer serve you, uncovering resilience you may not realize you have. My approach is trauma-informed, integrative, and relational offering space for reflection, understanding, and meaningful change.

“Healing begins when we stop asking what’s wrong with us and start asking what we needed that we never received.”

I believe therapy is not about fixing what’s broken, but about reclaiming clarity, self-trust, and the ability to move through life with intention and presence.
