Hello my name is Wade Gunn ,
I am an Associate Therapist with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Michigan State University and a PhD in Kinesiology–Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My work spans interdisciplinary settings and includes individual and group psychotherapy, health disparities research, and psychological and cognitive assessment. I have supported adults across the lifespan, including college students in counseling centers, middle-aged adults in community settings, and older adults in hospital and clinical environments.

Clinically, I have experience working with depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship concerns. I am particularly interested in working with older adolescents and adults from diverse racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities who present with mood, anxiety, stress-related, and relational challenges.

My primary therapeutic modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients understand how thoughts and emotions influence behavior. My core theoretical orientation is existential, emphasizing self-awareness, personal responsibility, and meaning-making. I also integrate other therapeutic approaches as appropriate to meet each client’s needs.

I approach therapy as a collaborative and supportive process, creating a space where clients feel heard, safe, and empowered. Sessions are purposeful, personalized, and grounded in empirically supported interventions, with an emphasis on clear goal-setting, emotional validation, practical behavioral tools, and insight-oriented exploration.
